SUMMARY:From Infection Rates to Policy Debates: Mathematics in the Vaccine Conversation
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, we explore quantitative aspects of infectious diseases – such as contagiousness\, fatality rate\, number of sufferers\, and vaccine effectiveness –  and use tools to model the spread of disease. From these activities\, we develop new insights into how the spread of disease can inform our individual decision-making and our collective advocacy\, ultimately asking under what conditions should a department of public health recommend or mandate a vaccine?
